Purpose of the Group: The aim, as articulated in 2008:
Our vision is that the Ōwhiro Stream flows free and clear as a living link between land and sea, sustaining native animals and plants for people to enjoy and care for.
Our goals:
- To work with community to protect and restore the stream and environment
- Enhance habitat for native animals and plants on land and in the water
- Improve quality of water in the stream
- Encourage peoples’ enjoyment and care of the stream
- Work with people and organisations that have an impact on the stream and the catchment
- Look for new ways in which the urban and natural environments can co-exist
- Monitor progress towards self sustaining eco-systems in the stream environment
Location of main site: Margins of Ōwhiro stream from where the stream emerges from a pipe at Jamieson’s Towing, to Murchison St.
